what we’ll do
I will support you to work by yourself or with others to take meaningful action to address a self-identified injustice in your community. You will take on a role in collaboration with the community to challenge and develop yourself as compassionate, proactive global citizen. We will meet once a week, online and/or in person, during term time then take action over a few days during school holidays.
By participating in these community-based opportunities you will be shaping yourself and your community in a way that matters to you.

why we’ll do it
A recent Northern Beaches Council’s survey of 1,000 young people found that the number one thing teenagers want to contribute and connect with their community more to gain a sense of belonging and accomplishment. This is backed up by studies showing that meaningful, quality relationships with others is key to living a happy, healthy life.
To develop their autonomy as young adults, teenagers can work together to create and implement projects that align with their values and develop their abilities. These projects are a great way to strengthen their global citizenship skills, their community and their sense of belonging all while accomplishing a meaningful social endeavour.
Global citizens understand the interconnectedness of humans, value and respect diversity, take action in meaningful ways, and challenge injustice. According to Oxfam, global citizenship skills include:
- Engaging positively with others
- Examining your own values
- Researching issues that matter to you
- Listening to and engaging with others’ perspectives
- Practicing empathy and leadership
- Developing and voicing your educated opinions
- Recognising and challenging stereotypes
- Taking informed, reflective action for justice
